The difference between "attenders"
and "members" can be summed up in one word…
"COMMITMENT"
At Horizon, we recognize the need
for a formal membership. We ask you to commit to membership for
4 reasons:
A Biblical
Reason: Christ is Committed to the Church.
" ...Christ also loved the
church, and gave himself for it;" Eph. 5:25
A Cultural
Reason: It is an antidote to our society.
We live in an age where very few want to be committed to anything.
This attitude has produced a generation of "church hoppers
and shoppers." Membership swims against the current of this
'consumer religion." Membership is an unselfish decision.
Commitment always builds character.
A Practical
Reason: It defines those who can be counted on.
Every team must have a roster. Every school must have an enrollment.
Membership in our church identifies our family.
A Personal
Reason: It produces spiritual growth.
The New Testament places a major emphasis on the need for Christians
to be accountable to each other for spiritual growth. Membership
achieves this goal.
To become a member of Horizon,
you must attend the "Discovering Membership at Horizon"
seminar. In this seminar, you will learn more about Horizon’s
unique strategy, structure and goals. In this seminar, we will
share the story of our church’s beginning and our vision
for the future! You will then be given the opportunity to formally
commit to become a member of Horizon by committing to our church’s
membership covenant. The covenant can be viewed here – RESOURCE
